ANAMI Conservationist Institute<\/h1>\n

The work done by the Anami Institute consists in receiving, protecting and rehabilitating great apes. Species harbored<\/h1>\n[\/nectar_highlighted_text][vc_column_text]\n

The Institute currently shelters over 500 animals, from 37 species, distributed in different enclosures compliant with legal norms, affording each one a life with dignity. Most of them are primates and birds of the Psittaciformes <\/em><\/a>order, such as macaws and parrots. The word means \u201cPerson of the Forest\u201d in the Malay language. Medium-size species present throughout nearly all of South America. Ateles spp<\/em><\/p>\n

Native from the Amazon Rainforest, these primates are characterized by their long limbs, resembling a spider and agile prehensile tail. Alouatta guariba clamitans<\/em><\/p>\n

Primate found in the Atlantic Rainforest and is vulnerable. In addition to being a target for cruelty, its habitat is undergoing fragmentation. As paredes s\u00e3o todas pintadas com belas paisagens e h\u00e1 tr\u00eas grandes janelas de 3,5 x 2,5 metros feitas com vidro espessos que garantem seguran\u00e7a e uma melhor vis\u00e3o tanto para os chimpanz\u00e9s quanto para a equipe do Anami. Para os jardins foram desenvolvidos projetos de jardinagem com \u00e1rvores e muita relva, para simular situa\u00e7\u00f5es naturais onde os grandes s\u00edmios vivem naturalmente.<\/p>\n

Nas \u00e1reas internas, existem grandes sal\u00f5es com as paredes pintadas e v\u00e1rios
\nbrinquedos, como mangueiras, pneus e barras de ferro. Specimens that were victims of traffic \u2013 as many primates and birds \u2013 that have spent long periods of their lives in captivity, most of the times in precarious conditions, display physical and mental sequels that render impossible their return to nature, given they lack physical and cognitive skills required to find food, escape from predators or, even, join bands live in freedom.
